Youth Leadership Institute (YLI)
Initiated in October 2023, the Youth Leadership Institute is a youth-led and highly interactive leadership development program designed to engage and empower our youth. We are currently in partnership with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The program takes places once a month and supports Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority programming target – Empower Our Families.
Our primary focus areas will be on:
- Foundations of Leadership and Success
- Engagement in Exploration, Discovery, and Self-Expression
- Using the Power of Purpose to Drive Success

Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (AKA CHIPP™)
The CHIPP program is dedicated to providing nutritious meals for children in our local communities and is targeted to be Alpha Kappa Alpha’s most ambitious childhood hunger program to date.
In 2024, Alpha Alpha Delta Omega chapter partnered with North York Harvest and assembled and distributed 900 power packs within the Greater Toronto Area.

AKA Tag Day
On May 30th & 31st the ladies of Sigma Xi Omega Chapter hosted a Citywide Tag Day to raise funds to support the annual Geraldine Lambert and Dr. Norma Hendrickson scholarships, which are awarded to a graduating student at CedarBridge Academy and The Berkeley Institute to attend Bermuda College. 🎓📖

Tree Planting
🌱 On, April 19th, Sigma Xi Omega Chapter proudly joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®️ Ingenious International Region in celebrating Region-wide Tree Planting Day! 💕💚
We planted two trees — one in honour of 35 years of dedicated service to Bermuda, and another as a symbol of our ongoing commitment to serve and uplift our island community for generations to come.

World Book Day

In celebration of World Book Day, the ladies of Sigma Xi Omega spent a heartwarming morning reading to the bright young minds at St. Paul’s Preschool! 📖✨
We didn’t stop there—we gifted a book to each child and donated a collection of books to the school’s library, ensuring the love of reading continues to grow. 🌱📚

Salvation Army Feeding Program
Sigma Xi Omega had the privilege of serving at the Salvation Army Feeding Program. 💕💚 Giving back to our community and supporting those in need remains at the heart of who we are.

Debt Planning & Credit Repair Workshop
Alpha Alpha Delta Omega partnered with the Caribbean Connections student group at the University of Toronto Scarborough and the Black Students’ Association at the University of Toronto St.George Campus to deliver workshops about debt planning and credit repair to undergraduate students.

One for the Books: Books & Braids
Alpha Alpha Delta Omega partnered with The Reading Partnership for The One for the Books: Books & Braids literacy event. This event featured Alpha Alpha Delta Omega’s very own author, Ndija Anderson-Yantha, who read her book, What are you gonna do with that hair?, followed by a discussion and braiding demonstration for children and their parents.

#UCAP
The #UCAP program was designed to assist students, particularly Black students, in their efforts to enter University and College. Members of Alpha Alpha Delta Omega provided mentorship throughout all stages of the application process. #UCAP also provided funding for the participants’ OUAC and OCAS applications.

Holiday Hamper Drive
Alpha Alpha Delta Omega partnered with Councillor Michael Thompson and Project Engagement on the Holiday Hamper Drive. This annual food drive delivers a month’s supply of healthy, fresh food to approximately 400 families in Scarborough.

Hurricane Maria Relief
Alpha Alpha Delta Omega partnered with the Commonwealth of Dominica Ontario Association to help with sorting and packing boxes to be sent to families in Dominica impacted by Hurricane Maria.

Black Women's Gathering
Members of Alpha Alpha Delta Omega sat on a panel to discuss creating a sisterhood, facilitated by our president, Dr. Renee N. Rawlins at the 1st Annual Black Women’s Gathering. This took place at OISE at the University of Toronto.
